During law school, I joined the U.S. Navy JAG Corps where I served in a number of roles, including defending servicemen against criminal charges in capital cases and helping others to resolve their off- base disputes. In the Navy I got my first experience representing individuals facing seemingly insurmountable tasks and navigating the health and insurance industries, both of which have prepared me to better help our clients. While in private practice, I also served as a Judge for the City of North Charleston for eight years. In private practice, I have worked with several firms in the Charleston area and have practiced in a wide variety of legal fields. I litigated for both plaintiffs and defendants in cases involving auto accidents, workers' compensation, premises liability, construction, and inter- business disputes. As a partner in a small firm I helped bring our attorneys closer to our clients by expanding into multiple office locations. I then opened my own law practice and for several years concentrated on giving my clients the highest quality of legal representation. These legal and managerial experiences have given me the tools to serve the people of the community now in the best way that I can, by helping injured people get back on their feet. I love the Charleston area and the people that make it such a diverse and dynamic place to live. I grew up in North Charleston, graduated from the College of Charleston and University of South Carolina School of Law and now live in Mount Pleasant with my two children. At the end of the day I relax by practicing and teaching Tai Chi and Kempo Karate. -Paul A.
